WHAT TO EXPECT
Pregnancy massage, built around you
First, we listen
Your session begins with a short conversation about how many weeks pregnant you are, how your body has been feeling and where you would like the practitioner to focus.
Positioning that supports you
Side-lying positioning and supportive pillows help you settle without placing unnecessary strain on your body.
Pressure that adapts
Pregnancy massage does not have to feel feather-light. Your practitioner adjusts the pressure carefully, checks in with you and responds to what feels comfortable.
Focus where you need it
The lower back, hips, legs, shoulders, neck or upper back can receive more attention according to how you feel that day.
Pregnancy massage—also called prenatal massage—is not simply a regular massage with lighter pressure. The positioning, pace, pressure and areas of focus are adapted around your stage of pregnancy, comfort and response during the appointment.
WHAT WOULD HELP TODAY?
More comfort, where you need it
Pregnancy affects every body differently. Choose the areas you would most like your practitioner to consider.
Your lower back and hips feel tired
As posture and daily movement change, the muscles around the lower back and hips may feel more heavily used.
Your neck and shoulders feel tense
Work, sleep and changes in posture can leave the shoulders, neck and upper back feeling tight or tired.
Your legs feel heavily used
Tell your practitioner if your legs or feet feel tired so the appointment can be adapted appropriately.
You need time to slow down
Sometimes the most valuable part of the appointment is having an uninterrupted hour to settle, breathe and
receive careful attention.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
A few things worth knowing
When can I book?
We offer pregnancy massage from the second trimester.
What should I tell reception?
Please let us know how many weeks pregnant you are, any areas of discomfort, health concerns or special requirements. This helps us arrange a suitable therapist and treatment space.
What if I have received additional medical guidance?
If you have a high-risk pregnancy, medical concerns or specific advice from your midwife or doctor, please consult them before booking and inform our team. Your safety and comfort come first.
What happens afterwards?
We recommend drinking water, resting briefly and avoiding strenuous activities for the remainder of the day where possible. Mild tiredness or soreness can occur. If you experience any unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Clear answers before you book.
Where can I book pregnancy massage in Angel or Islington?
Pregnancy massage is available at Asiatic Angel, 93 Upper Street, London N1 0NP, and Asiatic Highbury, 262 Upper Street, London N1 2UQ. Both studios have ground-floor treatment rooms and pregnancy support pillows for comfort.
Do you use pregnancy-massage-safe oils?
Yes, we prioritise your safety and comfort above all else. During pregnancy, your skin and sense of smell become more sensitive, so we use only high-quality, professional-grade unscented oils and massage creams chosen for their purity and gentleness. We know strong fragrances can be overwhelming, so we use neutral, hypoallergenic products as standard. If you have allergies or product preferences, please tell your therapist before your session, and we will tailor your treatment to your comfort.

Are pregnancy massage therapists at Asiatic female?
Most pregnancy massage sessions at Asiatic are provided by experienced female therapists. Male therapists may be available for guests who prefer a firmer approach to the shoulders, neck, or upper back, subject to suitability and availability.
What position will I be in during pregnancy massage?
Most pregnancy massage sessions use a supported side-lying position with pillows for support. This keeps you comfortable, avoids unnecessary pressure, and lets the therapist work carefully around the lower back, hips, legs, shoulders, and upper back.
How often should I receive a pregnancy massage?
Some of my clients book when tired or tense, while others prefer regular sessions during the second and third trimesters. The right frequency depends on your comfort, pregnancy stage, and your healthcare provider’s advice.
Can my partner come with me to my pregnancy massage?
Yes. You are welcome to bring a partner or support person to your appointment. Please let us know before your visit so we can prepare the room and maintain your comfort and privacy.
Can prenatal massage help with pelvic girdle pain, SPD or sciatic discomfort?
Pregnancy massage may help relieve discomfort in the hips, pelvis, lower back, and legs, areas often affected during pregnancy. If you have pelvic girdle pain, SPD, sciatic discomfort or severe pain, please speak with your midwife, GP or physiotherapist before booking. At Asiatic, we use side-lying support, careful positioning and gentle, focused techniques to help you feel more comfortable without placing unnecessary strain on sensitive areas.
Is pregnancy massage safe?
Pregnancy massage is often safe for many expectant mothers after the first trimester when done by trained therapists and tailored for pregnancy. At Asiatic, we use side-lying support, careful positioning, clear communication, and gentle, pregnancy-appropriate pressure. If you have any health concerns, please talk to your healthcare provider before booking.
Can I book pregnancy massage session in Highbury?
Yes. Pregnancy massage is available at our Highbury studio on Upper Street, near Highbury & Islington station, and at our Angel studio near Angel station.
What is different about a pregnancy massage?
Pregnancy massage is adapted for comfort and safety. Instead of lying on your front, you usually lie on your side with support pillows. Your therapist adjusts pressure, pace, and positioning to your stage of pregnancy and comfort level.
Can I have strong pressure during pregnancy massage?
Some clients prefer firmer pressure, especially around the shoulders, neck, and upper back. During pregnancy, we focus on careful technique, positioning, and controlled pressure instead of forceful work.
What should I wear for a pregnancy massage?
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing to your appointment. You can undress to your comfort level, and you will be professionally covered with towels throughout the session.
Can pregnancy massage help with back discomfort?
Pregnancy massage may help relieve discomfort in the lower back, hips, and shoulders by using gentle, pregnancy-aware techniques. It is not a medical treatment, so persistent or severe back pain should be discussed with your midwife, GP, physiotherapist or healthcare provider.
